MY PET

 Human and dog friendship is the oldest. It is the most useful animal to the mankind. I have a dog. It's name is Toby. It has long black hairs all over body. I give it milk, rice and meat to eat. Toby is very strong and intelligent. It is very faithful and obedient to me. It watches our house at night. It barks when it sees a stranger. It guards our house at night. The thieves are afraid of it. It follows me wherever I go. sometimes it licks my feet and wags its tail before me. It never hurt me. It  always obey my order. So I like it so much.   I'm very sad he's sick. At the time I was very close to it. Toby does not like to be stuck in a cage, he's always trying to go out. but I'm not letting him get on the road , because there are lot of vehicles on the road. we always play catch outside my house or sometimes in the park. He is the reason I am active and good at exercise. He will never let me be lazy. Whenever possible, we always keep laying some or the other game...

 A folk music instrument is a musical instrument that developed among common people and usually does not have a known inventor. It can be made from wood, metal or other material. Such an instrument is played in performance of folk music. The five major types of musical instruments are percussion, woodwind, string, brass and keyboard.There are some traditional instrument used in the making of folk music. FIDDLE OR VIOLIN When the violin is being played for folk music, it's called fiddle. In both cases, it's a 4- or 5-string instrument that is played in a certain way. While violinists are playing classical music in a style that demands perfection and accuracy for every note, fiddlers are able to give their own interpretation of music in a way that moves them. VESAK FESTIVAL

Vesak festival is a religious festival. It is celebrated during May, by Buddhist go to the temple, offer flowers, light oil lamps, and worship the Budda. Most of the Buddhist observe sil .Our whole family observe sil on this day. We make beautiful vesak lanterns. We light the oil lamps and vesak buckets in the evening. Houses are decorated with Buddhist flags and streamers. It is very beautiful in the night. People go to see the pandals. Lots of people go on pilgrimages. Small children are very happy. I'm counting the days until vesak comes.

DEHIWALA ZOOLOGICAL GARDEN

  National Zoological Garden of Sri lanka is a zoological garden in Sri Lanka, founded in 1936. its sprawling areas are host to a variety of animals and birds. The zoo exhibits animals but also places an emphasis on animal conservation and welfare, and education. The dehiwala National Zoo, which has a remarkable collection exotic and indigenous fauna, is one of the oldest Zoos in Asia. The currently Dehiwala Zoo houses 72 spcies of Mammals, 65 species of Birds, 31 species of Reptiles, 89 species of fish, 3 families of Amphibians and 30 species of Butterflies etc.The total number of animals varies from 2500-3000 due to breeding and free living colonies of birds.   A Natural disaster is an unforeseen occurrence of  an event that causes harm to society.There are many Natural disasters that damage the environment and the people living in it. Some of them are Earthquakes, Cyclone,, Floods, Tsunami, Landslide, Volcanic eruption, ad avalanches. Spatial extent measures the degree or severity of the disaster. TYPES OF DISASTER Earthquake An earthquake is the shaking or vibrating of the earth. An earthquake can range in sizes. As a result, some are so weak hat they go unnoticed. But some are so strong that they can even destroy the whole city. Earthquacke can also cause landslides, avalanches, and Tsunami. However the center of an earthquake falls mostly offshore. Landslide   Landslides is the moving of big boulders of rocks or debris down a slope. As a result, landslides occur on mountains and hilly areas. MY FAVOURITE SINGER

 My favourite singer is Umaria sinhawansha. she is born on a 1991 5th of January in colombo. Umariya is a Sri Lankan pop, R&B and jazz singer.She is youngest musician to be ever awarded , A - grade by Sri Lanka broadcasting corporation and she has won the "Kala Keerthi Abhimani'' award for her contribution to Sri Lankan music industry. Some of her favorite songs are Hanthana sihine, Ahipillamak, Manda pama, Nim him seuwa, Ayachana, Hiru mal etc. In 2020 her single 'Manda Pama' reached 10 million views in a very short time.She was listed among the most viewed female artist on youtube with 22 million views. She is the most following Sri lankan singer on instragam. Umaria is also knowan for her role as a coach in the telvised singing competition. The voice Sri Lanka and she is wining coach season 2021. Her voice sounds like a music instrument.It' s goad gift and She likes a precious gem to our country.

FOOD RELATED CULTURE OF SRI LANKA

  From ancient times, the staple food in Sri Lanka has been rice. There are different kinds of rice such as 'Suwadel', 'Elsahal', 'Heenati' etc. Apart from rice, grains and grain based products are talking a major place in our diet. Kurakkan and Meneri are a few of these. Grains curry a high nutritional value. Our main meals should be balanced and wholesome. for example we can include Hathmaluwa (curry made with seven vegetables), mung kiribath, mixed green leaves etc. Sri Lanka has always been a home to a multi ethnic cultural society.  There are many famous people in this world. People can be famous for many reasons. First, a person can excel in one area and become famous. Also he/she can invent something and become famous. However there are some practical people arround us who show us that we can do many things. Morever they prove us that one can become successful not only in one area but also in many different fields. Sir Charles Spencer Chaplin or commonly known as ''Charlie" was an English actor, comedian and flimmaker, who became world famous, has proved this very fact. Recently, I read about him in a newspaper. This great person once said, ''You'll never find a rainbow if you're looking down''. This statement shows how optimistic he is. HEALTHY FOOD

 Finger millet is a traditional grain that is popular in SL. It is called Kurakkan in Sinhala and Tamil. Vitamin B, iron and calcium are all present in abundance in finger millet. It is also rich in dietary fibre and helps in easy digestion. Therefore it is an excellent remedy for constipation as it acts as a natural laxative. It is law in fat content but rich in carbohydrates which makes it good for people who are overweight. The digestion process of finger millet is slow and therefore helps in keeping the blood sugar at a low level. As a result, it has become a favourite food among diabetic patients.  This wholesome grain is made into porridge, idli, pittu, rotti, hoppers and bread in various regions. It is increasingly becoming popular as a bakery product and recently its demand has increased considerably as people have become aware of its health benefits. Organically grown finger millet is healthier and safer to eat as there are no harmfull chemicals used in growing it....

NETBALL

 My favorite fame is netball. Netball is a team game which consist of seven players in each team. It is mainly played by women even though there are men's netball teams in some countries. Netball was derived from basketball. This game originated in England in 1890. . Netball can be played both as an indoor and an outdoor games. It is played in a rectangular court with two goal rings at each end. Teams score points by shooting the ball through the rings. Each player is assigned position and can hold the ball up to three seconds before passing or shooting a goal . A game is played for sixty minutes and the team which scores the highest number of goals wins the game. There are six basic skills in netball. There ate Ball controlling, Foot work, Attacking, Defending, Shooting.  It is a popular game in Commonwealth Countries. The Story about Orpheus and Eurydice (A GREEK Myth)

 Once there was a famous musician called Orpheus. He was considered  the greatest musician of the time. Apollo, the Greek god of music, admired him very much and presented him with a "lyre", a music instrument. No one could resist his music. Human and gods alike were charmed by his music. It was said that even wild beasts used to sit and listen to him. Meanwhile Orpheus met a wood nymph called Eurydice. Nymphs were supposed to be minor deities who looked like beautiful women. They fell in love with each other and got married. They were very happy. One day Eurydice had the misfortunate of stepping on a snake. The snake bit her and she died. Orpheus was heartbroken. He refused to accept that his wife was dead. Orpheus brave man. He decided to go to the land of the dead to bring his wife back. He was not afraid to take on such a perilous journey.
