BEAUTY SPOTS IN MY VILLAGE

Everybody loves his or her native village.So,I like too my village lot and I am proud of my village Because it has a very fascinating environment.My village is Kothmale in Nuwaraeliya District.It is situated in central province.My village has a lot of historical places as well as beautiful places and I will tell you a little bit about it,

KOTMALE DAM

The kotmale dam is a large hydroelectric and irrigation dam in SL. It is the second largest hydroelectric power station in SL.The dam forms the kotmale reservior,which was renamed to Gamini Dissanayake Reservior on 11 April 2003 following a request by Ranil Wicramasinghe.

RANAMUNE PIHILLA

The RANAMUNE water spout is a natural bathing place in my village.The pillar of this battlefield located at the top edge of a beautiful small paddy field. Thi water spout was created by king Dutugamunu during his escape from Ruhuna and his hiding place.The water here is so cold and never lost.The people come here every day to bath and this place surrounding ate like a valley.Actually, so beautiful. Currently this is using for a teledrama shooting

MAHAWELI MAHA SEYA

This is the buddhist stupa and temple located near kothmale dam. The stupa is 88m (289ft) taall,making it the second largest stupa in SL. Second to Ruwanweli Maha Seya in Anuradhapura.The Mahaweli development project was the largest develpment project conducted in SL after the country obtained independance.

KADADORA VIHARAYA

 

KADADORA VIHARA is also known as a Kadadora Sri Priyabimbaramaya Viharaya was a buddist temple situated in my village.The temple was abondoned and ruined as the construction of kotmale dam in 1979 by Mahaweli development programme.The ruins of vihar still can be seen when the water level drops,people from different parts of SL come and see it.
